Publish your book with Contrarian! We are an author-subsidized program that is in accordance with the IBPA's guidelines, which you can read up on here, and our contracts are terminable at will. To learn more about how we handle payment and royalties, please see our FAQ page.

Contrarian Publishing will edit your novel, manage your book schedule, design your cover, track your sales, and more. And you, the author, can be as hands on or hands off as you want to be. ​As a Contrarian Author, you will receive all our available services. We'll focus on publicity and distribution and advise you on author marketing and social media, as well as creating a brand guide for you to utilize as your grow your own brand identity as an author. You will also be offered our "Additional Services," such as audiobook production and author website design, at a discounted rate. ​

We want our authors to have input. We want our team to feel empowered and supported. You should be able to publish and share your story with the world, and we want more than anything to help you bring your book to life.

Submission Guidelines
Contrarian Publishing looks for narrative fiction, especially genre fiction, in all age categories with a profound message at its core. We will also consider memiors. We are not the publisher for those who have written more straight-forward nonfiction books. Send us an email with a pitch for your book including a description of your project, 10 sample pages, and a breakdown of where you're at in the writing process. This doesn't need to be as formal as a query, though you can send a standard query if you have one. We just want to know more about you and your book! If we think that your book might be what we're looking for, we'll get back to you to schedule a time for a video consult to make sure we're a good fit and our pricing for publication. Please note we do have options for those who are low income.
We review every single submission we receive and strive to ensure we're publishing books that authors will be proud of and readers will love. If you receive a rejection from us, we are more than happy to provide feedback if requested and schedule a video call to discuss. More than anything, we want to help authors tell the stories they were born to tell.
